Polyamorous relationships are a taboo subject in our society and quite complex to explain. However, the term Unicorn appears in this one. This is the subject that we will discuss today in this article.

What is the unicorn's place in a polyamorous relationship? Is it a three way relationship? Is the person bisexual?

Definition of Polyamour

Polyamour comes from the Greek poly, "many, and" and Latin amor, "love". It refers to the practice or desire for intimate relationships with several partners and with the consent of all the partners involved. It is therefore the opposite of monogamy. People who identify as polyamorous choose one open relationship. He therefore accepts this awareness of the jealousy that this can cause. Therefore, they reject the view that sexual and relationship exclusivity is necessary for deep, committed, and long-term romantic relationships. Polyamory is often confused with infidelity, swinging or libertinism and polygamy. Indeed, the notion oflove is important for polyamorous.

Polyamory and Unicorn

Polyamorous is defined as the state or practice of having multiple sexual and / or romantic relationships simultaneously. Do this with full knowledge and with the consent of all involved. The term Unicorn is used to describe a bisexual person. She is willing to join an existing couple, often with the assumption that that person will have sex with both members of that couple, and will not ask or do anything that may cause problems or inconvenience for that couple.

Unicorn is therefore a bisexual woman who “completes” a heterosexual couple. It is called the unicorn because it is rare. Hence the expression “you are looking for a unicorn!”, Ie something that does not exist. The term Cbreach appears to be used as a male equivalent.

La unicorn will therefore be there couple's girlfriend. The couple is generally seen as a primary relationship, while the girlfriend will be a secondary partner of both. She is not allowed to do anything with any member of the triad, always with both. The dyad, on the other hand, is allowed to date each other without their girlfriend. If the triad does not work, then the dyad will stay together and the girlfriend will leave. It is understood that if things do not work out she will leave without a problem. Although the dyad may choose to incorporate elements of the girlfriend's life into the triad, it is not uncommon for the girlfriend to integrate the lifestyle of the dyad more than her own.

Sometimes the unicorn is expected to not develop any emotional attachments and is strictly there for sexual intercourse (also distributed to both dyad members) and / or is prescribed as a secondary. This term is used to remind that bi-poly women are people who have their own pre-existing wants, needs and lives, and not fantasy figures or pets.

Hot Bi Babe (HBB)

In a polyamorous relationship, the unicorn is also called a "hot bi babe" or "HBB" in English. Hot translates to a "hot" person. This term Hot Bi Babe can therefore sometimes be seen as derogatory, condescending or ironic.

The triad and the unicorn

Straight couples who are looking for a unicorn are often seen as sexist and biphobic. Indeed, the man in this relationship does not feel threatened by the fact that his partner is with another woman. We can speak of a single penis. In fact, the unicorn woman can be ignored in her wants and needs. The hetero couple, dyad, passing before.

The unicorns of the triads can therefore be viewed unfairly and unfairly. The girlfriend of the polyamorous community is viewed very negatively. The term is often used to show a couple considered to be superficially polyamorous. Indeed, the requirements that this type of couple imposes on the woman are important: that she is single, that she does not take an additional partner, that she gets involved with the two members of the couple on a level playing field. equality and that she often complements their family as a surrogate mother and housekeeper and / or breadwinner and does nothing that might threaten or upset the existing couple. Many in the poly community call this type of woman a "unicorn". People wanting to agree to such arrangements are extremely rare, while couples looking for a woman who will agree to these conditions are common. 3-way relationships don't have to be in this shot. There are triads with one man and two women in a very healthy relationship.

Unicorn hunters

In the poly-community, unicorn hunters are seen as couples (dyads) in search of HBB. They tend to be new couples in a polyamory format. These dyads may have specific rules allowing them to end the poly relationship, send the unicorn away, and stay together.
